Welcome! (Sticky post)

Thank you for visiting; this is a blog that chronicles my playthroughs of various Super Famicom, PC Engine, and general strategy RPGs. Feel free to respond here to introduce yourself, let me know what your favorite SRPG is, whatever.

I generally update on Saturday or Sunday. I play one strategy RPG, then two Super Famicom (or PC Engine) RPGs.

I’ve now finished the links to all the previous posts, so you can use the links at the top to see the full list of played games so far. Also, if you are only interested in certain types of posts, you can filter by categories (see the bottom of the sidebar). The three categories are Strategy RPGs, Super Famicom RPGs, and PC Engine RPGs.

If you want an RSS feed, this link should work: https://www.rpgblog.net/?feed=rss

Was looking to make a SRPG list for several retro consoles and ran into this while struggling to make a full PSX list. Very useful information and very cool blog. Rock on buddy, keep living your dream!

My retro goal currently is playing all of 5 genres with 5 consoles. Might never complete it but its fun.

I don’t do a blog just record gameplay of all the games I play on my YouTube channel ‘Extraordinary Thumbs’ and rate them all 1-100. In my endless impossible adventure to beat every game.

Hi kurisu, hope everything is going well for you. Just wanted to say that I was looking at your list of PCE rpgs and noticed you put the number 23 as missing on that list. That number is in fact the first Startling Odyssey game, that you reviewed here: https://www.rpgblog.net/pce-game-23-startling-odyssey/

Just in case you want to fix it when you have time. I noticed it because I’ve started playing Startling Odyssey 2 and wanted to refresh your review about that game. After that, I wanted to read your post about SO1 and that’s when I found out about all this.

    Cheers!

    Hello.
You a perfect guy to talk about SRPG and why they aren’t a real thing. That sound rough. But is true.
Becouse computer RPG don’t exists as well. They all wargames but without table and more plot.
Still im interested with your opinion in that matter.

This isn’t something I’m particularly interested in — to me SRPG is just a name for a type of video game. They were originally called RPGs because they were based on Dungeons and Dragons.

Thank you for answer, is always nice to meet someone with similar interest.
For me all games that focuses on using my wits on small scale to win instead reflexes go under label of tactical game.

Why did you start with sfc and not, say, fc? There were a lot of jrpgs out there, and it’s interesting to know your opinion on each of them.

I was hoping I would get games that had better interfaces, less grinding, and just better quality in general, although that turned out not to be the case. There were also a lot more games for the SFC that I wanted to try, than there are for FC.
