One of the things I can “roll” to play between SRPGs is a DS game. Any suggestions? It can be something that’s good or something that’s only in Japanese that you are curious about.
I’ve played Tales of Innocence and Hearts, KH 356/2 days, the FF remakes, Xenosaga I&II, Etrian Odyssey 1, Dragon Quest IV, and the Super Robot Wars games for the system.
Deltora Quest is really good if you want a simple RPG with a great story.
Rune Factory can be nice even if it’s really… simple.
Dungeon Explorer: Warrior of Ancient Arts DS Ver. is really good if you like dungeon crawlers like Diablo.
My main problem with DS RPG is a lot are very long and bland… like, they are always well done but not enough to really shine, I’m talking about a lot of obscures RPG nobody knows, of course the DS have a zagillion of gems, just when it’s not these gems, it’s a lot of low mids games.
I think the major problem is a lot of these games want to be long, or take inspiration in monster collectings games like pokémon, but it’s just… bland.
Oh, and really REALLY a lot of the DS RPG are from anime and manga, I skip always them because it’s like a lose of time for me…
Oh, and I skipped a lot of GBA sequel RPG, because I did not still started the GBA list of RPG, I wanted to finish first the GB and GBC before, but I’m a bit lazy…
Otherwise if you want a little list of DS RPG released outside Japan…
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime
Mario & Luigi: Partners In Time
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Blue
Something good- Solatorobo: Red the Hunter (much better than it appears at a glance).
Something obscure and Japanese, one is curious about (assuming real hardware): Sigma Harmonics.
Something good: Definitely Radiant Historia. I think this game is amazing.
Cyrious: I’ve ways been curious about the two Saga games (the Game Boy remakes) if they are any good for NDS. They did get fan translations, but so far I’ve never played them.
Maybe the metal max series on DS, The World Ends With You, Infinite Space,Luminous Arc,
Sigma Harmonics and Tokyo Majin Gakuen: Kenpuuchou.
I played Tokyo Majin Gakuen: Kenpuuchou already for Playstation: https://www.rpgblog.net/srpg-game-91-tokyo-majin-gakuen-kenpucho-ps1-system/
